The Met exhibits an incredibly vast collection of fine art that spans over 8,000 years of human history. The Museum was founded by a group of American businessmen, artists and thinkers in 1870. The Museum moved to its current location in Central Park in 1880. The facade and entrance you see today were completed later, in 1926. In an average year, the Met hosts over five million visitors and it houses more than two million works of art. The building itself, including these urinals, are owned by the City of New York.
