"The Clay Studio continues to change and grow as we complete our 21th year as an independent ceramic studio. What started out as the ceramic department of the M.H. de Young Museum Art School has become one of the best equipped pottery studios in San Francisco. Our space is spacious, comfortable and conveniently accessible by public transportation. It is located 2 blocks south of the Center for the Arts, MOMA and Moscone Center and a half block from Caltrain Station .As an educational institution our primary goal is to provide a place for exploring creativity through clay and the ceramic process whether that be pottery on the wheel or sculpture. Classes are held in a supportive atmosphere and taught by knowledgeable teachers. During open studio time students from all the classes share space and experience and learn from each other. The Clay Studio also continues to foster development of the arts by offering studio space to artists. Within our structure there are 15 individual work spaces where professionals make and promote their art. An artist community is created through the sharing of techniques and ideas."
