This picture was taken at the main visitor center for the park, located in the town of Banff itself, which is inside the park. Unlike american national parks, canadian parks often contain full-scale towns, complete with numerous hotels, stores, restaurants and gas stations. Banff, Alberta is one of those towns.

This second picture comes from the parking lot at Lake Louise, which is the highlight of any visit to Banff National Park. The parking lot is contained in the town of Lake Louise, which also features high-rise hotels, stores and gas stations, right alongside the spectacular high-altitude lake.
