One look at the neon sign outside and you'd swear this place has been around since the '40s. The gorgeous antique wood bar runs the length of the narrow room and World War II memorabilia adorns the walls. Lunchtime features hand-carved roast beef sandwiches, huge hand-patted burgers, or chili thick with shredded beef and rich spice. For dinner, there's roasted chicken with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy--the Blue Plate Special.
