Highway 18 connects Vietnam's capital of Hanoi with the coastal city of Ha Long, continuing north from there and terminating at the Chinese border near the town of Mong Cai (Dongxing on the Chinese side). Motorists stopping at this rest area will find a number of facilities geared towards western tourists, including a sculpture and textile store, as well as many souvenir and gift counters, plus the usual compliement of dining facilities.
